Acne is one of the most common skin concerns, affecting people of all ages—not just teenagers. It can show up as blackheads, whiteheads, painful cysts, or inflamed spots, often leaving behind scarring or uneven texture that can linger long after the breakouts have cleared. Living with acne can impact confidence, making skin feel sore, irritated, or congested.
What Causes Acne?
Acne forms when pores become clogged with excess oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. This leads to inflammation and the formation of spots. Hormones, stress, diet, and genetics all play a role in how acne develops and how severe it becomes. Picking at or squeezing spots (understandably tempting!) can also increase the risk of scarring.
