Lash Lift – Frequently Asked Questions

Please arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free eyes and lashes. Avoid using waterproof mascara or oil-based products for at least 24 hours prior, as these can leave residue that may affect the results. A patch test is also required at least 24–48 hours before your appointment.

Lash lifts are not recommended for:

– Clients with eye infections, recent eye surgery, or certain eye conditions

– Those with very short or sparse natural lashes (as results may be minimal)

– Individuals with known allergies or sensitivities to lash perming products

– Clients currently undergoing cancer treatment or who have recently completed treatment, as the structure of the hair may be compromised, which can affect the results and overall lash health.

Additionally, those with hormonal imbalances may not be ideal candidates, as hormones play a significant role in the structure and behaviour of the hair. If your hormones are not stable, your lashes may not hold the curl properly, and results can vary. For best results, hormone levels should be balanced before undergoing treatment.

It’s best to speak with Helen about any medication you may be taking for hormones or other health conditions. She will assess your individual circumstances and advise whether the treatment is suitable for you.

The treatment is gentle and completely painless. You’ll lie back and relax with your eyes closed while your lashes are carefully lifted and set in place. Many clients find the experience soothing and even fall asleep during the session.

Your natural lashes will appear longer, lifted, and more defined – giving your eyes a more open and refreshed look without the need for mascara. Results are immediate and continue to develop slightly over the following 24 hours.

Helen will assess your natural lashes and select the most suitable shield size and curl type for your eye shape and desired result. This ensures a beautiful, natural-looking lift that enhances your lashes to their fullest potential.

Lash lifts can typically be repeated every six weeks, once your full lash cycle has completed. It’s essential that all previously lifted lashes have naturally shed before re-treating, as lifting lashes that have already been processed can lead to over-processing and potential damage.

However, everyone’s lashes are different. Clients with fuller natural lashes may find that their lift lasts longer and may prefer to re-treat at 7, 8, or even 10 weeks, depending on how their lashes settle over time. Helen will assess your lashes and guide you on the ideal timing for your next appointment.

For the first 48 hours after your treatment, it’s important to follow these aftercare guidelines to maintain the best results:

  • Keep your lashes dry – avoid water, steam, and humidity (e.g. showers, saunas, steam rooms).
  • Avoid any eye makeup or mascara for the first 48 hours.
  • Do not rub or touch your lashes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid hot, sweaty workouts and excessive heat (including sunbeds or hot yoga).
  • Brush your lashes gently with a clean lash wand in the morning to keep them looking neat.

After 48 hours, you can return to your normal routine – including wearing makeup, cleansing as usual, and enjoying your beautifully lifted lashes.

Eyelash Extensions – FAQs

Please arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes and lashes. Avoid using oil-based products or waterproof mascara for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as these can leave a residue that may affect how well the extensions bond. A patch test is required at least 24–48 hours prior to your appointment.

Eyelash extensions may not be suitable if you have very sensitive eyes, certain eye conditions, allergies to adhesives, or if you frequently rub or touch your eyes.

If you are pregnant, please inform Helen before booking. For health and safety reasons, Helen will only carry out the treatment if you are past the 12-week (three-month) mark of pregnancy. This is to ensure your comfort and safety during the appointment.

The treatment is comfortable and relaxing. You’ll lie back with your eyes closed while individual lashes are delicately applied one-by-one. Many clients find the process so soothing they fall asleep during their session!

Your lashes will appear fuller, longer, and more defined. Whether you prefer a soft, natural look or something more glamorous, your extensions will be tailored to enhance your eyes and suit your personal style—no need for mascara.

Helen will assess your natural lashes, eye shape, and desired outcome to choose the ideal lash length, curl, and thickness. This ensures your extensions not only look great but also maintain the health of your natural lashes.

Most clients return for infills every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness. Some people with naturally fuller lashes and good retention can go up to 4 weeks, but this depends on the condition of your lashes and how much they’ve grown out.

You don’t have to get refills—extensions can be left to grow out naturally with your lashes, as long as you don’t pick or pull at them. If you prefer to remove them, Helen can do so safely after a few weeks.

For the first 48 hours after your appointment, it’s important to follow these guidelines:
  • Keep lashes dry – avoid water, steam, and humidity (e.g. showers, saunas, steam rooms).
  • Avoid touching or rubbing your lashes.
  • Steer clear of hot, sweaty workouts and excessive heat.
  • Brush your lashes gently with a clean spoolie in the morning to keep them neat.

Ongoing aftercare tips:
  • Keep all oil-based products away from your lashes – oil breaks down the glue bond, causing extensions to shed.
  • Do not pick or pull your lashes.
  • First, remove makeup around the eyes using an oil-free makeup remover, then cleanse your lashes every evening with a lash cleanser.
  • If you’re unsure about any product or technique, ask Helen—she will also send you an aftercare message for easy reference.

Tips from Helen After Your Appointment:

  • Change your pillowcase after your appointment to avoid oil or product residue transferring to your lashes.
  • Apply any face, eye, or body creams a couple of hours before bed to reduce the risk of oil transferring to your lashes while you sleep.
  • Wash your lashes every night with a lash cleanser to keep them clean and healthy.
  • Avoid applying makeup (e.g. concealer or foundation) too close to the lash line, above or below, to prevent oil transfer.
  • Brush your lashes daily with a clean spoolie.
  • Never pick or pull at your lashes, as this can damage both the extensions and your natural lashes.
  • Avoid spraying products directly onto your lashes, such as makeup setting sprays, as these often contain oils.
  • You can gently dry your lashes after washing them using a handheld fan or a hairdryer on a cool, low setting.
  • Be cautious around open flames like lighters or ovens—intense heat can singe or frazzle the extensions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak with Helen. She’s always happy to help and will make sure you leave with all the guidance you need.
